for everyone

80+ miles starting and finishing in Naseby.  The fist Sportive promotion by the triathlon specialists, Just Racing.  There was a reasonably tough route with over 1400m of climbing, well marked junctions (apart from the Stanford loop) and well stocked feeds.

We started in a group of 20 and headed off into the sunshine a little more quickly than intended.  Having only completed 1 ride longer than 60 miles, I wanted to take it steady but a glimpse at the Garmin at 90 minutes in showed an average speed of 22mph. Oh dear.  It settled a little as everyone put their ego's back in the box and we completed the route in a little over 4 hours.

Surprise appearances from a couple of Rocko riders helped us get a nice group together and we finished strongly for a 19mph average speed.

Caveman beatme by a minute and Vic Davis (listed as Michael Reid) came in close behind. Some poor buggers were out for over 7 hours! They must have been fried.

me and gregg just back from mental 110 mile ride in the lakes, 7hrs 15 with stops (6hr50 ride time), just outside a gold award with 3500m of climbing, one tough day, and so hot. Never enjoyed myself so much descending on a bike in the uk before, including our peaks day. We got to be utter holigan descenders it was ace, think I've worn half a set of brake blocks out in the dry.

Climbing up HardKnott at 30% at the 100 mile mark was just mental, stomp on pedal, do 1 revolution, track stand, catch your breath then try and stomp another revoloution, repeat for 10 minutes, one kin mental section of road. I dont think I've ever been up anything steeper, even off road on a mountainbike. Gregg even bust a spoke, going up hill.

Best part of day though, we chased down, caught and passed a motorbike at 48 mph and left him for dead, he he. His girlfriend on the back was not amused.
